PET OF THE MONTH
January 2004

Pet of the Month

Our January pet, is Choppers Juneau, who lives with his owner Jenny in East Glacier.
Choppers not only wears his goggles when he's tooling around in the pickup, but he also finds that he likes to wear them when he is just laying back, having a lazy day, watching the traffic go by. We're certain that he causes quite a few double takes.

He not only likes his goggles, but when Halloween comes along, he is always ready and willing to make a fashion statement, and has had numerous costumes over the years.

We always love to feature dogs with a sense of fashion, and Chopper seems to have a very distinct sense of style!

Our Valentine Cats for February belong to Amanda Palmer and are
appropriately named: Romeo and Valentino!

Like many of our Pets of the Month, they came to Amanda via one of
our employees, Kelly Berg.

Aside from having the complete and total run of the Palmer household, we
hear that both Romeo and Valentino have pretty big appetites.
What beautiful cats they have become!

Pet of the Month

Our March pet is a beautiful Lhasa named Schofield Theodore Romain.

As Lela and Steve write: "He came to us on 12-02-99; a cute, quiet little fluff ball. That all lasted about 2 days. From then on the Lhasa Apso known as Schofield ruled the roost.

When he was little more than a year old, he was run over by a 4x4 pickup truck and became a fixture around the Skyline Clinic for some time.

He has earned himself quite a reputation around the clinic with the girls as a male chauvinist dog. His favorite person there is Jon!

Schofield is very good at letting us know what he wants. His job is alerting us against possible intruders, which he takes very seriously!

He is three years old now and mellowing with age. He is a good dog but challenging."

PET OF THE MONTH
April 2004

Our April Pet of the Month has the distinction of having his own personal portrait, drawn by his owner, OM Mabry! Thank you Mr. Mabry for such a kind note, and the wonderful sketch! What a lucky dog Fisher is to have gone from along side the road to your home!

Mr. Mabry writes:
"My good little dog Fisher just loves coming to your clinic. Thank you so much for being so nice to him. I wish I had more information about him, but apparently he was dropped off along side the road.

I had a dream that he would one day be the best prairie chicken dog ever. I hope you like the sketch. My kindest regards to you and the crew."

Pet of the Month

May brings us the Graham brothers, David and Zachary with their Toy Rat Terriers: Scrappy Chuck Doo and Scooby!

"The Graham's have had Scrappy since Oct. when he flew up from Tennessee. He is not afraid of other dogs 4 times his size and will bark at them. He enjoys playing with Scooby and plastic caps. He will take the cap, throw it and bring it back, then throw it again!!!!

Scooby on the other hand is only 10 months old. She is also from Tennessee. Scooby enjoys playing, chasing cats, and playing with Scrappy! Scooby is very agile and fast. She will catch birds, snakes and mice."

Thanks David and Zachary!

Pet of the Month

Our June Pet of the Month is a Cocker Spaniel named Abby, who has been a wonderful companion and trooper for her owner Kelly Grubb of Cut Bank. Being a trooper is something not uncommon for Kelly, who has had stem cell transplants in treatment for acute lymphocytic leukemia. It is our privilege to profile a beautiful cocker like Abby, from an exceptional owner like Kelly.

Kelly writes:
Abby is my Cocker Spaniel who I got after my first transplant. She is now 4 years old, but she is still like she was when she was a puppy.

She still plays nonstop, she has so much energy, that I can't even keep up with her by the end of the day.
So Abby is just like a little kid. She is my baby. I wouldn't change her one bit.
Thank you so much for doing this for my dog. It is an honor.

Pet of the Month

Here we are in this big world. Hi to everyone out there. Our names are Moose and Payton. Our owners are Rodney and Jeni. We were kindly asked to share with you a little bit about ourselves, so here goes.

My name is Little Miss Moose, but you can just call me Moose. I am the smaller one on the left with the long brown hair, big circles around my eyes, and my ears stand up. Cute ha! I was born on December 22, 2003. Right now I weigh in at about 2.3 lbs. They tell me being a teacup Chihuahua that I probably won't get much bigger. All I have to say is that my owners had better be very careful with me.

Now don't forget me! I am Payton Blue Moon, but call me Payton. I have blue eyes and what they call a blue and tan coat. Unlike my stepsister, my ears don't quite stand up all the way yet, but I am working on it. I was born December 1, 2003. Let me tell you, this was the wrong time of year to be born. With my short hair, it is a little chilly in Montana. Good luck finding clothes that fit when you are my size. Oh yeh, by the way, I weigh a whopping 3.5 lbs, and I am also a Chihuahua.

One last thing, we want to say thanks to the staff for taking such good care of us when we come to visit the office.

PET OF THE MONTH
August 2004

My name is Coby Singletary Croxford. I was born June 28, 1991 to Baron von Braun and Midnight Lace. My adoptive parents, Dennis and Moyne Croxford have loved and cared for me faithfully for 13 wonderful years. They would like to recommend me for Pet of the Month because of my recent accident with a car on March 1, 2004.

Three months ago, I fell in love with a St. Bernard who lives across the street from me.

I really fell hard, and although mom and dad did not want me to visit her, they finally got tired of my whining, panting, and scratching at the door, so they let me visit.

I was crossing the street to see her when a car hit me broadside.

My Dad rushed me to Skyline to see my good friend Dr. Seekins. My Mom stayed home and cried and prayed for me. She thought I might die. I had to stay a couple of days, because of my leg fracture, and I lost my left eye! There was also many cuts and abrasions, with lots of stitches.

Dr. Seekins, along with Billie, Sarah, Shirley, Debbie and Patty took such good care of me, that I am getting lots better. I even look forward to my checkups. I love them all so much; they are my friends.
Love, Coby

Sept 2004 Pet of the Month

Hi, my name is Annabelle Matsko. I am a Vietnamese potbelly pig. I was born on March 14, 2004. I flew to Montana on Delta from Maurice Louisiana, where I met my Mom for the first time and some of my other friends. I came home with Mom and met my three other sisters: Lexa and Sasha who are cats, and Sasha who is a dog.

I was very curious and instantly fell in love with Sasha the dog! I would nibble on her feet and pull on her tail. Then I even started crawling on her back, which was the point when she said enough is enough!
I was sort of shy the first day, but that didn't last for long. I was part of the family in no time.
I am very smart and was potty trained from day one. I either go in the pine shavings box or outside on the lawn. I am one of the cleanest animals around. I don't have sweat glands so I don't stink.
I don't even have to think of my favorite thing. It's FOOD!!!!! So I guess you know my favorite place to hang out is the kitchen. I beg everyone and anyone for anything they are eating. If I hear a noise in the kitchen, I am right there with the action.

My big brown eyes with long eyelashes really do the trick: I eat a pig pellet food, one cup in the morning and one cup in the evening.

For snacks, I eat fruits and vegetables. Oh man, do I love my snacks, especially strawberries, grapes, bananas, carrots, and lettuce!!!

I drink Gatorade, cranberry juice, and water. My favorite drink was the milk mom made me the first two weeks I was home.

I sleep in my Mom's bed and I can even tuck myself in just perfect. I like to be in the covers or under the pillows. I love my big belly scratched and of course my chin and cheeks (both sets)

I didn't like to be picked up at first, but Mom has been working with me and I'll let her carry me all the time now! I love to run around in the backyard, and boy am I cute. I can really fly.

I am very lovable and will cuddle with mom every chance I get. Since I'm soooo smart, I know how to get my way, and I can be pretty stubborn. I don't really like baths right now, even though they say I should LOVE water. I guess I just have to get used to it.

My mom puts lotion with sunscreen on me when I'm out in the sun, because I have skin just like people. Right now, my Mom and Dad are training me to the harness so I can start taking short walks with Sasha. I'm not sure if that is my favorite thing, since I have a control issue, but I'll live.

I play with toys, stuffed animals, my mom's hair ties, and baby toys my mom buys me at the store.
I am happy to have such a home, which is good, since I will live about 13-20 years! I am so loved and spoiled it's unbelievable. Everyone takes a lot of interest in me and is very curious. Lucky Me!
I hoped you learned a little bit about a Pot Belly Pig.
Annabelle

PET OF THE MONTH
October 2004

Blaze Broxson is a 17 YEAR OLD! male kitty, the Broxson family purchased in 1987. From the time he was a kitten, he would carry a marble in his mouth, drop it somewhere and chase it. His favorite places to do this are the bathtub or the driveway! Years later, he would bring in a live mouse or bird to the tub to play with, but never to hurt or kill. He would get upset when they were removed.

He always enjoyed laying in the sun on a glider or rug with a little pillow.

Every night we go for a walk and he always leads the way! He is still very playful, and really enjoys the catnip that is growing in his yard.

PET OF THE MONTH
November 2004

Our November Pet is Twister Macklin, owned by Austin (blonde) and Taylor (Dark haired) Macklin.

Twister was foaled April 5, 2004. He is a class A miniature horse, who at birth was about one foot tall. When he is full grown he will be approximately 28-30 inches tall.

He will pull a cart and will be shown all over the United States. A small package, but quite a horse nonetheless!
