PET OF THE MONTH~JANUARY 2003

Pet of the Month

What a way to start the new year!
These two beautiful Keeshounds are Kayla and Mickey Bann of Great Falls. Their proud owner is Bob Bann.

Kayla is 5 years old, and likes walking, riding in trucks, and playing in creeks. She is a keen watchdog who hears everything.

Mickey is a rescue dog who also likes to ride in the truck and go for walks.

Both are early risers, who always let you know when it is time to eat, and are eagerly waiting for their favorite time of the year, as they love to play in the snow!

PET OF THE MONTH~FEBRUARY 2003

Pet of the Month

Our Valentine delight for February is 3-year-old Punkin Walsh, who was discovered through an ad in the paper by her owner Mary.

Punkin's mother is a purebred Shih Tzu and her father is a Toy Pom.

She arrived at the Walsh household on Halloween, and just in time to mend a couple of broken hearts, as Mary and her husband Larry had just lost their beloved "Buffy Marie" after 15 years together.

Punkin of course is very smart and a complete joy to behold. She is groomed often, and has even completed obedience training!

Punkin is sure to enhance the Walsh's lives with her undying love and companionship.

Happy Valentine's Day from Punkin!!!!

Pet of the Month

Elvis and Simba Gillan

The month of March brings us Elvis and Simba, who live with Rowdy and Crystal.

Shortly after the loss of their beloved Speedway, they decided a new kitten was in order, both for them and their other cat that missed him greatly.

After visiting a pet shop, baby Simba, an 8-week old Manx calico kitten, found her way into their home and hearts. With six toes on all four paws, she was the cutest little thing they had ever seen.

Upon bringing her to Skyline for her first checkup, they were introduced to little Elvis. His lovingness and personality won them over in no time. Life had not been so kind to Elvis, but his luck was about to change! The Gillans came into the clinic with one kitten, but went home with two!

Elvis and Simba have become the best of friends, despite a rocky beginning, and Rowdy and Crystal say they feel very lucky to have them both. Elvis and Simba keep their other cat on its toes and at the end of the day, they all curl up together on their favorite blanket on the back of the couch.

She loves going for walks and spending a lot of time outdoors. She shares this loving home with a calico, two gold fish, a catfish, and two snails!

PET OF THE MONTH~May 2003

Pet of the Month

There's no better way to welcome spring than with Mindi and Mati Howarth, two wonderful and loving Maltese dogs who live with Don and Sharon.

These dogs are a very important part of Don and Sharon's life. Since their children are now raised and gone, Mati and Mindi have become their kids, and they are cared for in a similar way!

Mati came to Don and Sharon in December of 1994. She has been a shadow and constant companion ever since. Mindi joined the Howarths' in September of 2000. At that time, Don and Sharon had recently lost another Maltese, so Mindi helped fill that void.

Mati is the female "alpha", and is definitely the boss. Mindi, being shy and submissive is O.K. with this and they are great friends!

PET OF THE MONTH~June 2003

Pet of the Month

My name is Cowboy. I am a blonde Lab about 10 years old. I showed up at Dan Zachary's house about 8 years ago, right around Thanksgiving. I had been walking for quite sometime before I found a very nice guy to stay with. He wasn't sure what to do with me! I stayed for 2 weeks until one day I was caught be the dogcatcher and put into doggie jail. Dan came and bailed me out; adopted me and I have been with him every since.

I am getting old and have cancer now. Just recently, I had my front right leg amputated because of bone cancer. The staff & doctors at the clinic took very good care of me through my operation. It's so good to be back home with my master Dan, Garfield the cat and the new puppy. I take it easy by laying around the house unless we go out for a drive.
Nowadays, I enjoy being allowed to sit on the couch and ride inside Dan's truck. I used to ride in the box of trucks, chase gophers, run through water puddles, swim in the river and enjoy being outside with the horses. I want to thank the people at the Skyline Veterinary Clinic for helping me to get better. Dan & Cowboy Zachary.

Pet of the Month

Molly Rose Fairbanks is a very happy go-lucky Beagle. She is always glad to see everyone and is always ready to give a kiss.

Molly likes to go for rides around town and check everybody out. She also likes to ride on a Jet Ski every chance she gets. She once caught a fish with her paws at Fresno Lake.

Molly is the mascot at the Physical Therapy Department at the Ft. Benton hospital where she greets everyone.

Molly's owner, Dwayne, is a diabetic and what makes Molly so special is she has saved Dwayne's life twice by barking to get people's attention when his blood sugar dropped so low and he passed out. Another time she licked and scratched his chest until he woke up in the middle of the night when his blood sugar dropped very low.

Molly is so proud to wear her patriotic cap and scarf. She looks so cute and gets many complements. They were a gift from a veteran in honor of the war dogs.

PET OF THE MONTH~August 2003

Pet of the Month

A Pet of the Month TRIBUTE to " Jessie" Zuhoski

Our August Pet of the Month is sadly a memoriam to Jessie Zuhoski, a beautiful Flemish Giant, born on April 19, 2002. She came to the Zuhoski home last June after the tragic death of "Isabee" another Flemish Giant.
Jessie was from Libby Mt. and her beau "Rusty" was from Washington State. Jessie and Rusty enjoyed hopping around the yard, and following Don and Helen everywhere. Flemish Giants are naturally snoopy.
Little did Helen and Don know just how much joy this beautiful rabbit could bring to their lives. Jessie's antics were always uplifting after a hard day at work.

Passing On
When a pet finally passes on, there is emptiness, a place in our hearts that will never be filled again in exactly the way it was. Because no matter how many pets we have over the years, each is unique, a friend, and when they go away, our lives are changed forever in many small ways.

Pet of the Month

"Tuffy" Grovhoug, a tough as nails kitty who lives with Bud and Linda is our Sept Pet.
As a young kitten, poor little Tuffy frost bit an ear; was hit by a car; broke his jaw and ribs; and has broken his tail 2 or 3 times.

Tuffy will gently grab you with his teeth if you touch his ribs, and pull your hand away.
Yet with all the trauma he has gone through, he remains a total lover, and soaks up all the attention he can get!
He is still full of zip and tears through his house, as though nothing at all has ever happened to him. Talk about 9 Lives!!! What an amazing cat.

Pet of the Month

Our October Pet of the Month is Emma Green, who is pictured here with her owner Ryan.

Emma is part Rottweiler and part German shepherd, and is only 8 weeks old. She weighs 11 lbs. 8 ounces.
Ryan taught Emma how to sit at 7 weeks of age. She is black and tan, with black spots on her paws. Her tummy has no hair, and feels a little like pigskin!

Ryan is proving to be an exceptional pet owner, shouldering all the responsibility for the care and expenses of his new pet.

We know that he and Emma will have a great and lasting friendship. Good luck Ryan!
